Bitcoin Billionaire
Mine bitcoin with a pickaxe, then with satellites. 2014's crypto joke that outlived several market cycles.
by FizzPow Games / Noodlecake Studios · 6 November 2014 · iOS / Android
Bitcoin Billionaire is 2014's funniest accident of timing: an idle clicker about mining bitcoin with a pickaxe, released a year before the first crypto crash, still online and still cheerful about it. FizzPow Games made it, Noodlecake published it, and the pixel-art bitcoin tycoon remains in the app stores a decade on.
It is a time-travel joke as much as a mining game: you dig, you buy better equipment, you eventually invest your coins in time travel, and the retro pixel art treats the whole crypto premise with exactly the seriousness it deserved.
What the loop feels like
You tap the bitcoin, and the bitcoin buys a better pickaxe. The desk is retro, the tapping is earnest, and every click clinks. That's Bitcoin Billionaire.
Workers automate the mine, upgrades compound, and the pixel-art rooms fill up with increasingly absurd mining machinery while your net worth explodes across eras. That's Bitcoin Billionaire.

The systems doing the work
Tapping and generation form the base layer: manual taps increment the stash while purchased upgrades produce passive per-second income. Random events decorate the screen, with drones, floating chests and cat companions crossing it, each offering temporary multipliers, coins or Bitbux, the premium currency, when clicked in time. Customisation is the signature system: as your net worth climbs, your avatar, desk and office transform, moving from a dingy basement through futuristic and historical eras, with time travel as the escalation logic.
Investments scale passive generation exponentially, with specific milestones doubling individual asset outputs, and Bitbux can permanently boost investment multipliers or speed actions rather than buying mere cosmetics. The community's collected wisdom is classic freemium arithmetic: watch the exponential curves, balance cheap high-quantity upgrades against saving for the massive multiplier tiers, and click every drone.
Where it stumbles
The honest verdict from a decade of players: it is fundamentally a shallow clicker that never evolved past its mid-2010s mobile roots. The early game leans on frantic tapping before it becomes an idle game at all, which has historically been hard on fingers and screen protectors alike. Pacing walls arrive on the freemium schedule, progress eventually leans on video ads and premium currency, and there is no deep mechanics layer for genre veterans. It is a nostalgia trip first, an idle game second, and it has never pretended otherwise.

The verdict
A genuinely funny, well-made 2014 idle game that survived its own joke: the crypto crash happened, the game stayed, and the pickaxe is still swinging. Solid offline progress, honest retro presentation, and the best pixel-art mining rig in the genre. As satire it aged perfectly; as a deep idle, look elsewhere.
