Clickpocalypse
Minmaxia's original party dungeon-crawler: one ATTACK button, five heroes, endless bosses.
by Minmaxia · 2014 · Web
Clickpocalypse is Minmaxia's 2014 original: a party-based dungeon crawler with exactly one button. Your five heroes fight their way through dungeons on their own; your contribution is the ATTACK button, plus the management of parts, artifacts, quests, bosses and champions on the tabs behind it.
What the loop feels like
You press ATTACK, the heroes fight, and the loot rolls in. The party handles the fighting with the busywork of a full RPG, and your finger supplies the pressure. That's Clickpocalypse.
Quests assign themselves, bosses gate the next dungeon, and the champions you hire slowly make your button-pressing optional. The one-button design is the joke and the hook at once: every system exists behind a single visible verb. That's Clickpocalypse.
The systems doing the work
The named systems are active clicking as the ATTACK verb, idle automation through the party and hired champions, and the loot-RPG layer: parts, artifacts, quests, boss gates and champion hires, each on its own tab. It is a complete draft of the action-idle structure its sequel would expand, and it renders everything in canvas with no image assets at all, which is why this entry runs sparse on art and why the game loads instantly anywhere.
Where it stumbles
Being the draft is the limitation. The systems are shallower than the sequel's, the content pool is small, and the presentation is programmer-art by explicit design. Distribution has narrowed too: the Kongregate listing is gone because the host retired its game catalog, so the official site is now the only front door.
Playing it today
Free and live at minmaxia.com/clickpocalypse, verified playable in this rewrite. Its far bigger sequel, Clickpocalypse II, has its own entry and is the fuller game, but this one is worth playing for exactly that reason: this is the draft version of one of the genre's better action-idles, and it already had the bones.
The verdict
The smaller sibling of a hit, and the rare draft that stands on its own: one button, five heroes, and the bones of something bigger already showing.
