Clickpocalypse II
A free, mostly idle RPG: five heroes, 35 regions, and Minmaxia's dungeon-crawler epic.
by Minmaxia · 2016 · Web / iOS / Android
Clickpocalypse II is Minmaxia's dungeon-crawler epic, self-described as a free, mostly idle RPG: five heroes, 35 regions, gear with affixes, bosses, pets, and a progression web deep enough that its own players needed spreadsheets. The Kongregate listing died with Flash, but the game lives on at its own site and on mobile.
What the loop feels like
Your heroes fight through a region, loot piles up, and the gear upgrades write themselves. The party-level automation means the game plays itself competently; your attention goes to the loot decisions that make it play itself better. That's Clickpocalypse II.
Regions unlock, bosses gate progression, pets and champions multiply your gains, and the skill window becomes a strategy game in its own right. The one-ATTACK-button draft of the original grew into a full RPG here, and the bones carried. That's Clickpocalypse II.

The systems doing the work
The named systems are idle progression, active clicking, automation, a loot-RPG layer of affixed gear across 35 regions, and prestige. The gear affix system is what gives the spreadsheet crowd their hobby: every drop rolls modifiers, every modifier reshuffles the party's optimum, and the 35 regions pace the whole thing across a long, free campaign.

Where it stumbles
Its interface is a 2016 web game through and through, dense tabs and canvas art, and the spreadsheet-dependence is a real barrier: the systems are deep enough that optimal play is homework if you want it to be. The Kongregate page now redirects to the site's homepage, the Flash catalog having been retired, and Flashpoint or Ruffle availability is unconfirmed, though none of it matters while the official builds run.

The verdict
One of the best action-idles of its era: genuinely deep gear and party systems, free everywhere it lives, and playable in a browser tab right now. The rare Kongregate-era hit that survived its own platform.
