Goomy Clicker 2

The Pokemon fan clicker where Goomies accrue by the trillions: Joe Zeng's Cookie Clicker homage.

by Joe Zeng · 2014 · Web

Goomy Clicker 2 is Joe Zeng's fan clicker dedicated to the Pokemon GOOMY, the blob dragon whose fandom treats it with the reverence normally reserved for legends. You click for Goomies, the Goomies buy a twelve-tier generator grid that climbs past 25 trillion, and the great Goomy above watches. It runs at idle-js-games (verified live and played in-browser during this pass).

What the loop feels like

You click the Goomy, the Goomies accumulate, and the generators generate more Goomy. Buy profit upgrades, watch the per-second counter overtake your clicking by orders of magnitude, and keep scaling until the numbers need scientific notation and the Goomy just keeps smiling. That's Goomy Clicker 2.

There is no documented prestige layer, no rebirth, no grand revelation: the game is a straight line from first click to trillions, faithful to the template it adores. Even the subtitle is orthodox, a counter of Goomies per second beside your level. That's Goomy Clicker 2.

Where it sits

In the first wave of the Cookie Clicker clone boom, and proud of it. The original Goomy Clicker surfaced as a bare-bones pre-alpha posted to the Church of Goomy subreddit in October 2013, and the sequel followed in 2014, polished enough to earn a line in the r/incremental_games community lists of the era. It is a time capsule of the moment when every fandom got its own clicker, and one of the few whose theme chose the world's most beloved puddle. For the founding document of the whole wave, see Cookie Clicker.

Playing it today

Free at idle-js-games, open source on GitHub, with the shiny dancing Goomy preserved as an animated sprite. One honest note: the page ships no title tag and no in-page cover, so the header art is the game's own great_goomy.png asset and the gameplay shot is a fresh capture.

The verdict

A faithful 2014 fan-clicker and a time capsule of the Cookie Clicker clone wave: mechanically orthodox, spiritually devoted, and still adorably playable.
