Idle Mage Attack
TopCog's mage idle-ARPG: auto-advance, auto-attack, die, upgrade, repeat deeper.
by TopCog · 2016 · Web (Kongregate / CrazyGames) / Android
Idle Mage Attack is TopCog's 2016 idle-ARPG hybrid, the third TopCog entry in this index: your mage auto-advances and auto-attacks, death is a resource for persistent upgrades, and dungeons and charms arrived in v1.1.0. It plays live on Kongregate and CrazyGames, with the developer's site alive at topcog.com.
What the loop feels like
Your mage fights, the mage dies, and the death buys the fortification that makes the next run deeper. That's Idle Mage Attack.
Playing it today
Live on both portals (verified 200), with five large Kongregate screenshots (the 1892px kind) and the CrazyGames cover above, gameplay visually confirmed via the upgrade-card shot. One media quirk kept: CrazyGames serves this cover only at 360px and in JPEG despite the .png name, noted in the sidecars.
The verdict
A tight idle-ARPG from a studio that kept iterating on the formula: the death-as-progress loop is real and the charms are cruel in the right way.
