Kitty Cat Tycoon
Cats make furniture now: one gathers, one preps, one designs, one sells, and the paws never stop.
by NADDIC GAMES / MAF Games · 29 Apr 2021 · iOS / Android
The question at the heart of Kitty Cat Tycoon is what if cats made furniture, and the answer is: they would run a surprisingly disciplined assembly line. NADDIC and MAF Games launched this free idle in April 2021 as a follow-up to Hamster Tycoon, and the premise is exactly as advertised, a workshop of little pink paws cutting, prepping, designing and selling armchairs. It is aggressively cute and entirely honest about it.
What the loop feels like
The shop runs on four specialists. Mr. Ddong the Persian hauls in raw materials, Mr. Calion the Calico preps them, Ms. Cheeze the Cheeze cat turns out designs, and Mr. Tuxedo the Black cat sells the finished pieces to customers. You balance the rooms so no station bottlenecks the line, collect the Cat Coins, and spend them on warmer cat beds. That's Kitty Cat Tycoon.
The collection is the long game. Cat Manager cards level up specific stages of the craft, more than fifty breeds of cat arrive to live in your warm spaces as the roster grows, and the storefront gets busier with every discovery. Checking in to see which cat has fallen asleep on the workbench is a legitimate part of the loop. That's Kitty Cat Tycoon.
How it actually works
The structure is a staged production pipeline rather than a generic timer: gathering, prep, design and sales each run as a distinct station manned by its cat, and progression means balancing throughput across all four so the assembly line never stalls. Cat Manager cards are the upgrade layer, collected and levelled to buff crafting speeds, production tiers and sales output. Room upgrades smooth each crafting procedure, the design catalog expands from simple to fancy furniture, and the collection layer adds over fifty cat breeds to discover and house. Idle income keeps the shop working while you are away, and the game is upfront that ads are part of the package.
Where it stumbles
The community's reviews converge on the same trade: the cuteness is real, and so is the ad treadmill. Efficient multipliers and past the early-mid game walls, the game leans hard into nudges toward watched ads and microtransactions, and players describe the experience shifting from fun casual toy to monetisation grind. Rarer but more serious are reports of progress-killing bugs, including save-data rollbacks where currency or roster progress vanishes. The strategic layer is light, as the genre goes; the cats do the heavy lifting.
Playing it today
Free on both stores with in-app purchases and ads, warmly rated by its audience, with a small dedicated subreddit still documenting the cats. Get it on the App Store for iOS or on Google Play for Android. For more animal-staffed enterprises, our Desktop Cat Cafe entry puts cats behind a coffee counter, and Dog Hotel Tycoon swaps the species without losing the fluff.
The verdict
A genuinely heart-warming four-stage cat workshop idle that plays as gently as it looks, undercut by the usual ad economy and the odd save scare. Come for the furniture, stay for the cats, budget for the ads.
