Lootun

A semi-idle loot RPG where teams of adventurers clear dungeons for you while you stay behind crafting, enchanting and min-maxing everything they drag home.

Lootun splits the ARPG in half and hands you the better half. Your teams of adventurers do the dungeon crawling; you stay at base doing the part loot fans actually love, which is sorting a mountain of drops, scrapping the junk, and turning the good pieces into builds. It sits deliberately between an incremental idle game and a classic loot-driven crawler, inspired by the greats like Path of Exile but without the twitchy action.

Lootun team management and loot screens

What the loop feels like

You field a team of three into a mission, close the window, and come back to a loot pile. The first pass is triage: equip the upgrades, auto-salvage the trash, bank the materials. Somewhere in week two you are juggling multiple teams at once because automation, auto ability casting and auto-restart on defeat keep the missions cycling without you.

Then the real game opens. Your main class hits its Ascendancy, skills earn mastery through use, and you start rerolling gear around socketable gems and endgame enchants. A raid boss with six of your characters on the line finally checks whether the spreadsheet was right. That's Lootun.

The systems under the loot pile

Character building runs deep. Four core classes each upgrade into one of three Ascendancy Classes, with 25 passives per class and 28 default plus 28 cooldown skills that each carry 8 passives of their own. Gear is the other half of the economy: 500+ equipment items with randomized modifiers, a Scrapper that breaks unwanted items into crafting components, 14 flasks to craft and upgrade, socketable gems you can swap freely, 50+ endgame enchants and 80+ Divine Items anchoring late builds. Automation is a first-class feature: auto salvage, automatic casting and combat restarts let multiple teams run at once, scaling up to 18 unlockable character slots. The endgame is 6 Character Raids, backed by 100+ monsters, 50+ bosses and 145 achievements with over 600 ranks. A free Steam demo carries progress up to level 50, and demo saves and achievements transfer to the full version.

The honest criticisms

The idle label undersells the workload. Min-maxing stats, adjusting skill setups and constantly sorting gear demand a surprising amount of active attention, which some players did not sign up for. Late-stage play leans into tedious gear cleanup: heavy scrapping, attribute rerolls and inventory churn that can feel repetitive. Progression also hits a lull after level 100, where loops stretch into long waits for experience thresholds. And unlike Diablo or Path of Exile there is no dense wiki ecosystem, so you will be working out builds and math largely on your own.

Playing it today

Lootun is a Windows release on Steam from developer ArrowSoftGames, with a demo that carries progress into the full game and no verified mobile version from the same developer. If you want your idle games smaller and funnier after this, the catalog has Dragon Forge.

The verdict

For players who always liked the loot screens more than the clicking, Lootun is the good version of that preference: deep, respectful of your time through automation, and long. Just go in knowing it is semi-idle in the way a part-time job is part-time.
