Molo's Revenge

A mole dragon, a destroyed village, and one very personal mountain to dig through.

by MelonStudios · 26 Nov, 2024 · Steam

Molo's Revenge gives the incremental genre its most motivated protagonist in years: Molo, a mole dragon whose village was destroyed by George the mountain giant, who takes his revenge the only way a mole dragon can, by digging through the giant's mountain. MelonStudios released this small incremental in late 2024, and every resource you gather is framed as one more blow in a very patient grudge.

It is also a very small release: an ultra-casual niche title that sits in the quiet corner of Steam without guides, professional reviews or much of a community footprint. What follows is written from the store page and the one research pass that found it, at the length the evidence supports.

What the loop feels like

The digging is the whole ritual. You chew through the mountain, resources pile up from each bite, and the mountain gradually stops being a monument to your enemy and starts being an inventory. That's Molo's Revenge.

Upgrades and allies turn the grudge into a machine. Each purchase digs faster or digs deeper, recruits add their own output, and the fantasy is simply that George's mountain has a finite number of metres while your revenge has compounding interest. Few incrementals give their grind a face to be angry at, and it helps more than it should. That's Molo's Revenge.

Digging, upgrades and allies

An honesty note first: the mechanics research pass failed to find this game, so the systems here come from the store page and the criticism pass. The documented shape is a three-part incremental: digging through the mountain as the core verb and resource source, buying upgrades as the compounding layer, and recruiting allies as the automation layer, so the grind continues and accelerates whether or not you are personally at the mouth of the tunnel.

Molo's Revenge gameplay

Where the record runs out, honesty fills in: micro-budget incrementals in this tier typically draw the same critiques, shallow long-term progression, repetitive loops and a bare-bones interface, and nothing in this release's modest footprint contradicts the pattern. The small review base that exists is positive, but a handful of reviews is a hope more than a verdict.

Where it stumbles

This is a quiet title by every measure: virtually no community presence, no professional reviews, and a tiny Steam footprint, which means no guides, no balance consensus and no certainty about how long the loop sustains. The incremental beneath the charm is deliberately small scale, and the revenge fantasy is doing most of the load-bearing.

Playing it today

Molo's Revenge is a Windows release on Steam at budget pricing, with a free demo on the same page where available. Fellow diggers on this site include Mr. Mine for a deeper documented mining idle, and Dwarf Miner for the same downward obsession with less narrative.

The verdict

A small, charming grudge engine where revenge is measured in cubic metres. Dig for Molo, upgrade for yourself, and wave at George on the way past.
