Smith Legend: Idle RPG TD
Forge randomized gear at the anvil, hold the lane and let the RNG gods decide your build.
by Medu Games · Android
Smith Legend: Idle RPG TD welds three genres together and lets you guess which one is holding. Medu Games’ Android hybrid anchors its progression to an anvil: instead of buying weapon tiers outright, you spend coins and keys forging randomized gear, weapons and mythic items from a central smithing station. Around that forge sits a tower-defense lane to hold, random summons to adapt to, and a research tree stretching toward endgame account power. It is a familiar mobile grind wearing an archer-and-anvil coat of paint, and the paint is applied with genuine energy.
What the loop feels like
The first scene is the forge. Coins and keys go into the smithing chest, randomized gear spills out, duplicates get sacrificed to feed your primary loadout, and the auto-merge keeps the inventory from drowning you.
The second scene is the lane. A wave approaches, you flip your targeting logic from Closest to Weakest, call a random summon that RNG handed you this run, and the archer’s cooldowns fire in rhythm until the last bruiser drops short of the core. That’s Smith Legend: Idle RPG TD.
How it actually works
The systems stack deep. Targeting tactics like Weakest, Closest, First and Last, with Fixed and Unfixed modes, decide whether fast swarms or high-health bruisers leak past your defense. Offline idle gathers base resources, but pushing high tiers demands active forge management, manual merging and skill timing. Hero evolution and ascension scale your defender from fragile to powerhouse, while the sprawling research tree grants global multipliers, economic buffs and combat enhancements that persist across everything. Multiplayer extends the tail: real-time co-op tower defense, Guild Defense and Guild Wars, and 4v4 competitive skirmishes yielding exclusive treasury resources.
Where it stumbles
The pay-to-win wall is the honest complaint: progression slows to a crawl later on, heavily incentivizing microtransactions to stay competitive in PvP arenas, and the game does not reinvent anything, repackaging familiar dopamine triggers with RNG forging as the twist. Players allergic to aggressive free-to-play mobile design should skip it; everyone else should budget patience or money for the late game.
Playing it today
It is free on Google Play from Medu Games, Android-exclusive, with the co-op modes populated enough to matter. If the forge-RNG hook works on you, Weapon Shop Fantasy and Lootun chase similar gear highs.
The verdict
A busy, moreish hybrid of forging, lane defense and guild grind, with the usual mobile monetization tail. Fun in bursts, expensive at the horizon, exactly as advertised.
