TCG Card Shop Tycoon Simulator

Stock the shelves, rip the packs, chase the rare pulls, and grow a corner shop into a card empire.

by Sia Ding Shen · 7 Feb 2022 · iOS

Everyone dreams of owning the shop instead of emptying their wallet at it. TCG Card Shop Tycoon Simulator is developer Sia Ding Shen's free iOS take on that fantasy, released in February 2022 and arriving well before the PC hit that made card shop sims a genre. Here the shop fits in your pocket: buy trading card packs, sell the singles, upgrade the store, and grow a corner shop into a trading card business.

What the loop feels like

You start with a small shop and a counter. A customer walks up wanting a pack, you serve them with a quick tap, the register chimes, and the day's earnings collect in the till. Some of that money goes straight back out the door into fresh booster boxes for stock. That's TCG Card Shop Tycoon.

The other temptation is the product itself. You crack your own packs, hunting the rare cards for the collection, and the good pulls either go in a display case as inventory eye candy or out the door at a markup. The store gets shelves, then better shelves, then more shelves, and the customer queue gets longer. That's TCG Card Shop Tycoon.

How it actually works

The documented systems are retail-shaped. You purchase card packs and stock to sell, with a dedicated in-game shop for spending earnings on store upgrades. Collection is the collector layer: ripping packs to gather the trading card roster, rare cards included. Serving is the active layer, with fast tapping letting you serve more customers per shift, and expansion is the progression spine, scaling a small card shop into a super trading card business across upgrades and 3D store tiers. One practical note from the store listing: the game requires an internet connection to play.

Where it stumbles

Honesty requires unpacking a confusion first: community coverage of card shop sims online overwhelmingly discusses the popular PC title, and guides for that game's pricing markets, hygiene jokes and play tables do not necessarily describe this mobile version, whose deeper systems are thinly documented. What players do report about the mobile game fits the familiar free-to-play pattern: the daily rhythm of stocking, tapping and expanding turns repetitive once the store is big, progression leans on waiting or purchasing, and as a one-developer production it lacks the simulation depth of its PC namesake. Store ratings are solidly positive, but the most detailed ones are short, and long-haul depth is unverified.

Playing it today

Free on the App Store with in-app purchases, holding a positive rating from its audience across thousands of ratings, and online-only by design. Get it on the App Store for iOS. If running shops out of spreadsheets appeals, our AdVenture Capitalist entry distils the same retail loop to its numbers, and Idle Miner Tycoon gives the expansion ladder a mining overcoat.

The verdict

A pleasant little pack-ripping retail sim for the collector brain, lighter and less documented than its famous PC cousin. Good for stocking-and-tapping sessions, thin for anyone who wants to run a real card empire.
