Transmutation
Every element is a currency: Airapport's alchemy chain where A transmutes and B dissolves back.
by Airapport · 2019 · itch.io (Win/Mac/Linux/Android/iOS)
Transmutation is Airapport's alchemy incremental, downloadable on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS (the itch page verified live), with a chain loop that gives every element a double life: element A transmutes into B, and B dissolves back into more A than you started with. Every element in the chain doubles as a currency, which makes the alchemy and the accounting the same activity.
What the loop feels like
You transmute lead, the lead dissolves into gold dust, and the gold dust funds the next transmutation. That's Transmutation.
Then the chain lengthens and the chemistry becomes a portfolio. Nineteen elements stack from base matter upward, each one both a product you are trying to make and a currency you spend making the next, so every purchase is also an ingredient and every ingredient is also a score. That's Transmutation, and the loop's elegance is that the dissolution mechanic, the thing that should feel like a setback, is actually the interest rate.

How it actually works
The documented design rests on three pillars. The element chain is the engine: convert a quantity of one element into a unit of the next, watch the output dissolve back into a slightly larger quantity of the input, and manage a clockwork where every element doubles as a currency. The quest ladder is the goal structure: thirty-six planet quests walk the whole history of a world, from fixing the atmosphere through raising dinosaurs to human evolution and beyond into magic, giving the alchemy a cosmological to-do list. And the world-creation booster is the capstone layer, the prestige-flavored mechanic that turns a completed project into the seed of a new one. The mechanics tags the entry carries, idle progression, automation and prestige, map cleanly onto those pillars: the chain runs itself once fed, the booster resets it with a bonus, and the quests give the automation something to point at.
Where it stumbles
The honest caveats are access and documentation. There is no web or browser playable build, verified deliberately during research: the embed link on the itch page is the standard widget rather than a game, so anyone expecting a click-and-play tab will need to download instead. The criticism record is thin, with no substantial community analysis to consult, so the entry's picture rests on the developer's own listings and verification work rather than player consensus. And Airapport is a small studio, which means the long-term update story rests on a compact team, however well-maintained the pages are. What the design promises, it appears to deliver; what nobody has documented is how it wears over weeks.

The verdict
Airapport's cleverest currency design: an economy where every product is also a resource, and the alchemy is the accounting. A small, complete idea, executed on every platform that can hold it.
