Fantasy Monster Clicker

Click monsters, bank coins, buy upgrades, cross five biomes: a micro-budget clicker that stays in first gear.

by Leakage Games · 18 Sep, 2023 · Steam

Are you bored? That is literally how the store page opens, and Fantasy Monster Clicker's answer to the question is the genre's most reduced form: monsters, clicks, coins, upgrades, repeat. Leakage Games shipped it on Steam in September 2023 for less than a dollar, and at that price it delivers exactly one evening's worth of clicking before the seams show.

What the loop feels like

Your cursor does the sword-work. Left-clicks chew through monster and boss health bars, each kill pays out gold coins, and the coins go straight back into stat upgrades that make the next kill faster. Chapters roll past behind the slaughter, each one rethemming the enemies and turning the reward dial up alongside their health. That's Fantasy Monster Clicker.

Then the biomes change and the numbers don't. Light Forest gives way to Dark Forest, Desert, Viking Land and Volcanic Island, each with its own visual set and enemy types, but the underlying math barely budges: click damage up, per-second output up, next chapter. Around two to five hours in, the core synergies are unlocked, the upgrades start capping, and the loop you learned in minute one is the loop you finish with. That's Fantasy Monster Clicker.

The named systems

Click-to-slay combat is the input layer, converting manual clicks into monster damage and gold. The dynamic currency loop turns defeated enemies into the primary resource for continuous statistical upgrades, split between click damage and automated per-second output. Chapter advancement scales enemy health and coin rewards in sequence across five biomes. And achievement milestones set the long-term goals, most infamously the one-million-coin target, which sits awkwardly against the game's stingy gold acquisition.

Where it stumbles

The bugs undercut the one thing an idle game must do. Players report that autoclickers and damage dealers stop entirely when the window loses focus or leaves the screen, which quietly disqualifies the idle half of the genre. Balancing is rough, with the low gold caps colliding against grindy milestone achievements. Upgrades max out quickly, often around level ten, and chapters offer little tactical variety beyond new background skins. The title has also drawn asset-reuse criticism, with players recognizing recycled content across the publisher's other small releases, and its community footprint is small with a lukewarm-to-negative reception on Steam.

Playing it today

Fantasy Monster Clicker is on Steam for Windows, listed at A$0.75, with Steam Achievements and Family Sharing. Our platform check found no iOS or Android builds. For a fuller take on the same skeleton, the catalog covers Fantasy Clicker and Clicker Heroes.

The verdict

A dollar-store clicker whose focus-loss bug is close to disqualifying for the genre, padded by asset reuse and capped upgrades. The cartoony presentation and upbeat tone are pleasant for the hour or two they last, but free alternatives do everything here, only deeper. Curiosity purchases only.
