Letters

A free clicker about collecting letters of the alphabet on patient, multi-hour timers.

by Letters Developer · 25 Jul, 2024 · Windows

There is a clicker called Letters on Steam, and its loop is exactly what the name suggests: you click a letter, and more letters arrive. It launched in July 2024 as a free-to-play Windows release, and its entire economy runs on patience rather than clicking speed.

What the loop feels like

Every three hours the game hands you a small ration of four common letters. Uncommon letters arrive two at a time on a five-hour cycle, and a rare letter lands roughly once a day. Checking in twice a day yields more than grinding ever will, so it plays like a collection box you visit rather than a game you sit with. That's Letters.

Beyond the timers the loop is the loop: click, collect, watch the alphabet fill in. There is no prestige, no meta-currency, no deeper system hiding underneath, and the store page makes no pretense otherwise, advertising clicking letters, earning letters and changing letters with a straight face. That's Letters.

How it actually works

The cadence is the design, and it is the one thing the research record verifies precisely: four commons every three hours, two uncommons every five, one rare per day. The release ships with Steam Achievements, Cloud, Stats and Family Sharing support, and it is free. Beyond that there is little documented depth, and this entry stays deliberately thinner than our usual coverage.

Where it stumbles

Two honesty notes before the criticism. First, our research pass for this title came back describing a different game that happens to share the name, a narrative word-puzzle adventure about a girl named Sarah, so this entry is grounded in the store listing and verification records alone and flags the mismatch openly. Second, reception on Steam sits at mixed or lower, with players finding the loop shallow even by clicker standards. With no reliable community discussion to draw on, the fair description is: a very small free diversion, priced correctly.

Playing it today

Free on Steam, Windows only. There is no verified mobile version under the same developer; the similarly named preschool app on the App Store belongs to someone else entirely.

The verdict

A harmless, nearly contentless alphabet collector. Worth launching once out of curiosity; the real cost is the disk space.
