Lofi Aquarium
A Pomodoro focus tool that grows baby fish while you work: finish a session, earn tomatoes, watch your tank turn into a lofi-scored menagerie.
by LitheGame · 2025 · Steam
Lofi Aquarium is a focus tool wearing a game's costume. LitheGame built it for the second monitor: you set Pomodoro timers, actually work, and a school of baby fish grows faster the harder you work, all scored to lofi beats and customizable white noise. Mature fish sell for coins, coins buy seed packs, seed packs hatch rarer species, and somewhere in that loop a spreadsheet session becomes an aquarium hobby. It is idle gaming with a boss: your own concentration.
What the loop feels like
You start a 25-minute timer, and in the corner of your screen a very small fish gets very slightly bigger. That's Lofi Aquarium.
The timer dings, a pile of tomatoes drops into your tally, and the growth bars jump like the fish heard you were productive. That's Lofi Aquarium.
You sell a grown fish, buy a seed pack on break, and a rare species hatches while you are still mid-spreadsheet. That's Lofi Aquarium.

Under the hood
The economy is a clean productivity loop: completed Pomodoro sessions award tomatoes, tomatoes accelerate fish growth, matured fish sell for coins, and coins purchase Fish Seed Packs, a gacha-style random pull for new and rarer species. Long-term goals are horizontal: a catalog of hidden and rare marine and surreal species, plus themed environments unlocked as you graduate from starter tanks, including backgrounds with a quiet visual storytelling streak, a piano-playing child in space, an underwater room built around a giant hourglass.
The toolkit around the tank is the reason to choose this over a plain fish screensaver: curated lofi tracks layered over a white noise mixer with rain, meditation tones and film reel textures, plus an integrated to-do list so the work itself lives in the app. Veteran players recommend a strict rhythm, full focus during work blocks, then using the short breaks to pet, name and reshuffle your schools, and keeping prized single-species schools for display while duplicate commons fund the next seed pack pulls.

Where it stumbles
The balance wobble is the main complaint: expensive fish take far longer to grow, but payouts do not scale to match, so the late grind feels unrewarding. Players have hit small bugs, selling a fish without receiving the points, UI elements glitching under rapid clicks, and the developer has been quiet since launch, which means the quirks are probably permanent. Compared with Chillquarium's richer card-pulling shop loop or Rusty's Retirement, this is the lighter toy: a flat, pretty background layer rather than a deep sim.

A budget purchase on Steam, Windows, single-player, built to live minimized while you do something else. No mobile release was verified.
The verdict
A cheap, pleasant companion for anyone who already works to lofi and wants their procrastination taxed in fish. Buy it as a focus tool with a game attached, not the reverse. If you want the same second-monitor warmth with hands-on clicking instead of timers, Let's Pet Pets is the sibling pick.
