Incremental Wall

A minimalist wall of numbers: Geogolf's two-layer prestige incremental, discontinued by its own notice.

by Geogolf · 2020 · Web (GitHub Pages)

Incremental Wall is Geogolf's minimalist numbers-go-up incremental, live at the official GitHub Pages page (verified 200, rendering fully): increment currency, automate, prestige into PP, ascend into AP, with timed challenges for the impatient. It is a text-and-numbers toy from 2020 in the purest genre sense, and its retirement is the most orderly in the catalog.

What the loop feels like

You add to the wall, the wall multiplies, and the ascension makes the wall taller. That's Incremental Wall.

The two-layer prestige is the whole architecture, and it is clean enough to teach from: a first reset converts progress into PP, a second, deeper reset converts PP-era progress into AP, and timed challenges sit on top for players who want deadlines with their doubling. There is no theme to speak of and none is claimed; the wall is a wall, the numbers are numbers, and the pleasure is watching a hierarchy of multipliers interlock. That's Incremental Wall, and as a pure prestige-loop specimen it does the job without decoration.

How it ended

The textbook value is real. Two-layer prestige, where the first reset currency becomes the input to a second reset currency, is the architecture behind some of the genre's deepest machines, and most implementations bury the layering under themes and minigames. Incremental Wall exposes it bare: you can watch exactly what PP does to the early game, exactly what AP does to the PP era, and exactly why timed challenges exist to keep both layers honest. For anyone learning how prestige hierarchies are built, or teaching someone, it remains a working diagram, which is a better afterlife than most discontinued games get.

This is the rare defunct-adjacent entry where every question has an answer. The repository was created in March 2020 and last pushed that December, and the page itself states the game is no longer receiving updates, which makes it live but discontinued rather than dead. Better still, the author named the successor: Incrementalist, the next iteration of the same ideas, so the wall was not abandoned but promoted. The one identification wrinkle is documented rather than hidden: no wiki row for the game exists on any of the three source wikis the catalog uses, so identity rests on web search, the repository and the live page, all agreeing with each other. A single 720p live capture serves as the only asset, consistent with the repo shipping no image assets at all, the catalog's familiar text-game pattern.

Playing it today

Free at the official page, still rendering in a browser tab with no install, exactly as designed, with the source repository public for the curious. Its successor is the living version of the idea, and for other two-layer prestige machines the catalog's prestige-heavy shelf runs from Antimatter Dimensions onward.

The verdict

A clean two-layer prestige toy, discontinued by its own author with a successor named and a deprecation notice posted: the most orderly retirement in the catalog. The wall stopped growing; nothing else about it needs fixing.
