Alchemy Idle Clicker
Harvest, brew, combine, sell: RevelBase's 2016 Unity elixir shop, complete and still up.
by RevelBase · 19 June 2016 · Web
RevelBase's Alchemy Idle Clicker, on Kongregate since June 2016, is the elixir-shop version of the genre: harvest ingredients, brew them into potions, combine potions into better potions, sell everything, and let the income curve bend toward the philosopher's stone. It is a Unity build that shipped in June 2016 and had its last meaningful update in November of that year at version 1.8, and the wiki records it as complete, which is rarer than it should be.
Complete also means frozen. The community remembers it honestly: a promising alpha-stage prototype that its developer later outgrew, with the lessons folded into a better game. More on that below.
What the loop feels like
You click an ingredient, you brew it into an elixir, and the elixir sells for more than the ingredient cost. The recipe web spreads: base elements combine into advanced materials, and every discovered combination raises the ceiling of what your laboratory earns. That's Alchemy Idle Clicker.
Then you cross a cash threshold, refresh the page, and watch the whole lab wipe while your global income multiplier doubles. The next run is twice as rich from the first click. That's Alchemy Idle Clicker.

The systems doing the work
The resource generation and combination system is the heart: manual clicking produces basic alchemical elements, and combining specific base elements yields advanced materials through an interconnected web of recipes, with higher-tier items drastically increasing your income rate. Automation upgrades arrive as profits scale, transitioning the game from active clicker to true idle and keeping the laboratory running while you are away.
The multiplier loop is the spine. Progression is pinned to cash thresholds, ten thousand, a million, a billion, and beyond, and hitting one and performing the soft reset doubles your global income multiplier, two, four, eight, on up. Standard progress wipes completely, but the earned multiplier persists as the baseline for the next run. Veteran advice follows from that structure: pace your thresholds and never refresh blindly without checking how close you are to the next doubling, because maximising income before resetting saves hours of re-grinding. Early on the game demands heavy manual clicking to kickstart research, and once automation kicks in the discipline shifts to not starving your baseline production chains.
Where it stumbles
The prestige mechanic was clunky from birth: resetting meant manually refreshing the browser page at a money milestone, which wiped progress before the multiplier landed, and no more elegant system ever replaced it. The interface had real quirks, including a drag bug players still warn about, where pulling a UI element or resource square too close to the screen edge could make it vanish permanently and force an awkward reload. And the depth is rudimentary by later standards: no deep automation chains, no complex skill trees, frozen balancing. The community verdict is that it is a legacy precursor, worth a nostalgic hour rather than a fresh commitment.
Playing it today
The Kongregate page is live and free, and the game was never released on Steam or mobile, so this browser page is the only way in. If the brewing-loop idea grabs you, RevelBase's own Crafting Idle Clicker is the refined successor with the same combining bones and years more attention.
The verdict
A tidy, complete brewing loop from the Kongregate golden age, with the philosopher's stone as the finish line and a doubling mechanic that never stops feeling clever even when the refresh-button prestige shows its age. As a game it is a museum piece; as a first draft of a better idea, it is genuinely interesting. Play it for an hour, then let it point you at its successor.
