Crafting Idle Clicker

RevelBase's industrial sequel to Alchemy Idle Clicker: craft a production line, become a tycoon.

by RevelBase · 4 June 2020 · Steam

Crafting Idle Clicker is RevelBase's Steam successor to Alchemy Idle Clicker, the developer's own industrial-scale sequel: where the alchemy game ran a shop, this one runs a production line. It shipped free on Steam in June 2020 for Windows, with the pitch printed right in the store description: craft a complex production line, earn idle cash, and become an industrial tycoon.

What the loop feels like

You craft an item, the item funds a better station, and the station feeds a production line that keeps crafting while you plan the next link. That's Crafting Idle Clicker.

Lines compound into lines, the tycoon scale arrives, and the multi-crafting hotkeys that veterans of the alchemy days remember come back at industrial volume, turning what was a careful shop routine into a factory you conduct. That's Crafting Idle Clicker.

Crafting Idle Clicker gameplay: the production line

The systems doing the work

The named systems, per the store page and the game's own lineage, are the crafting stations, the individual workbenches that turn raw input into finished goods; the production line, the chain of stations feeding one another into idle income; and multi-crafting, the hotkey-driven batch mode inherited from Alchemy Idle Clicker that lets you push many crafts at once. Beyond those three the game keeps its documentation light, and its Kongregate release sits in the same lineage under the revelbase account. What is verifiable is the shape: a linear crafting economy that converts attention into automation, then automation into scale.

Where it stumbles

The honest criticism is that the game explains little and documents less: store-page prose is nearly the whole manual, so the middle game is mostly intuition, and players coming from deeper factory incrementals will find the strategic ceiling modest. It is a genre middleweight by design, the industrial cousin of a jam-adjacent alchemy game rather than a Factorio-grade system. And because it is free and complete, its flaws are the forgivable kind: nothing is paywalled, nothing nags, the game simply ends when your lines have compounded past the point of new questions.

Playing it today

It is free on Steam for Windows, with an older web release on Kongregate from the same developer. Our iOS and Android checks found no phone release by RevelBase, so desktop is the verified platform. If the lineage appeals, play the ancestor Alchemy Idle Clicker first, it is the same author's shop-scale original, and Cookie Clicker remains the genre's reference point for what a simple loop can grow into.

The verdict

Crafting Idle Clicker is the industrial-scale version of a loop RevelBase already proved, free, complete, and unfussy about it. It will not redefine the genre, and it does not try to. If you finished the philosopher's stone and wanted a factory instead of a shop, this was always the intended next step.
