Coinbox Hero
Punch a giant coinbox, hire workers, escalate to the tactical nuke: jmtb02's 2011 Armor Games comedy.
by John Cooney (jmtb02) / Armor Games · 26 August 2011 · Web (Flash era, via emulation)
Coinbox Hero is jmtb02's 2011 Armor Games comedy: punch a giant coinbox, hire workers to punch it for you, buy increasingly absurd weapons, and reach the endgame's million-dollar tactical nuke. It is the pre-Cookie-Clicker clicker, from the era when Armor Games hosted the genre's whole budget of jokes.
What the loop feels like
You punch the coinbox, coins spill, and the coins hire a worker who punches for you. The automation revelation arrives as a payroll decision, which is the 2011 browser-game way of teaching it. That's Coinbox Hero.
Workers become weapons, weapons become ridiculous, and the shop's final item is a nuke with a price tag that ends the game on purpose. It is one of the rare clickers with an actual ending, and the ending is a punchline. That's Coinbox Hero.

The systems doing the work
The documented systems are active clicking as the punch verb, idle progression through hired workers, and a shop ladder of escalating weapons that doubles as the comedy escalation. It is a short, complete arc rather than an endless economy, and that design decision, punch your way to a definable finish, makes it a historical curiosity worth more than its length suggests: this is the structure the genre tried before prestige replaced endings.

Where it stumbles
Era and brevity. The systems are 2011 shallow by design, the run ends in minutes rather than months, and the whole thing survives on portal emulation rather than its own technology. Anyone expecting a long-haul idle will find a joke with a punchline instead, which is either the flaw or the entire point.
Playing it today
The Armor Games and Kongregate pages are both live, and both serve the Flash game through emulation, verified. Newgrounds blocks scrapers but the game is there too. Historically adjacent ports of the same era in this catalogue include the greats it preceded.
The verdict
A comedy clicker from the pre-Cookie-Clicker generation, with an actual ending: the nuke. Short, silly, historically important, and still playable through both portals' emulation.
