Critter Mound
Breed critters, claim territory, evolve the mound: a breeding-focused incremental, open source.
by Vapor Edge (CanuckMonkey) · 2015 · Web
Critter Mound is a breeding-and-territory incremental by Vapor Edge: breed critters with inherited traits, expand the mound's territory, and evolve your colony across generations. Open source, playable at the official GitHub Pages build and a community fork that keeps it running.
What the loop feels like
You breed two critters, the offspring inherits traits, and better traits claim more territory. That's Critter Mound.
The mound grows, generations stack their improvements, and the breeding screen becomes a genetics puzzle. That's Critter Mound.
Playing it today
Free at both hosts above (verified 200 in this rewrite), open source on GitHub. This is the breeding-genre cousin of Critter Mound's better-known rival Kittens Game, and it scratches a different itch: where Kittens manages, Mound propagates.
The verdict
A genuinely different incremental: the genetics layer makes every upgrade earned rather than bought. Open source, playable, and unlike anything else in the index.
