GetElected!
jdllama's 2013 school-politics incremental: click Effort, file Paperwork, get elected.
by jdllama · December 2013 · Web (defunct, archived)
GetElected! is jdllama's 2013 HTML5 incremental about climbing from Class Clown through the student-government ranks toward actual office, with the dev's stated hook of three currencies feeding the climb. It was hosted on Google Drive's web hosting, which Google shut down in August 2016: gdriv.es/getelected now redirects to a homepage (verified), the raw googledrive.com host path is dead, and the December 2013 Wayback capture preserves the actual game, JS, CSS and all six images.
What the loop felt like
You clicked the Effort button, Paperwork accumulated alongside it, and a third currency the dev teased in the game's r/incremental_games thread rounded out a trio that was ambitious for 2013, when most clickers managed exactly one number. Under each currency sat the familiar furniture of the era: powerups and generators to buy, including one literally named Strangers, and a goal list on the right side of the screen that gated each elected position. Clear the goals, get elected, climb from Class Clown toward PTA Vice President and beyond. That's GetElected!
The archived assets tell the rest of the joke. Bills and a ballot promised money and voting mechanics, and the character art included Boss Tweed himself plus a butler figure labelled yessir, so the satire ran from student council straight through Tammany Hall. It was announced on r/playmygame as an alpha and never clearly escaped that stage. That's GetElected!
What it was
An early multi-currency clicker from the genre's school-politics corner, and a decent indicator of how fast the Cookie Clicker wave multiplied: within a year of that game's release, hobbyists were building triple-currency ladders about student government and hosting them for free on Google Drive. The archived in-game assets above (ballot, bills, paperwork, tweed) are the only imagery that exists, recovered via per-asset CDX timestamps after the first bulk pass produced zero-byte files.
Playing it today
Only through the archive. The original hosting died with the service in 2016, so the Wayback capture is the playable record. It is disambiguated from Campaign Clicker, a different election idle: distinct from it in every mechanic that matters.
The verdict
A historical entry with unusually complete recovery: every asset archived, the death cause documented (Drive hosting shutdown), and a triple-currency design that was ahead of its weight class. A 2013 alpha that stayed one, preserved honestly.
