Godville
The zero-player god game: your hero adventures, you watch, and occasionally intervene.
by Godville Games Limited · 2010 · Web / iOS / Android
Godville is the zero-player game: an MMORPG parody in the Progress Quest lineage where your hero quests, fights, accumulates godwood egos, and generally ignores you, the god, whose influence is limited to nudges, lightning bolts and an e-mail oracle. Two developers launched it in 2010, and it runs everywhere: web at godvillegame.com (verified 200), iOS, and Android.
What the loop feels like
Your hero adventures, your hero misadventures, and your interventions are occasionally, begrudgingly, acknowledged. That's Godville.

The verdict
A genre landmark: the game that proved the player's attention is optional, sustained for 15+ years by a two-person team, and still funny in exactly the way Progress Quest promised.
